Lead Instructor
About Farpoint
Farpoint is developing a credible, modern training programme for UAV/RCAS operators and command teams — built on frontline insight, operational realism, and advanced synthetic environments. We're looking for someone who can lead our instructor team and represent Farpoint with confidence and authenticity.
The Role
The Lead Instructor will guide and mentor Farpoint's instructor team, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery across classroom, practical, and simulation-based training. You'll work closely with the Head of Training Design to align curriculum design with real-world delivery, ensuring that lessons learned translate into effective training outcomes. You will also represent Farpoint externally — contributing operational perspective at customer meetings, demonstrations, and defence events. This role suits someone with strong instructional credibility, composure in front of diverse audiences, and the judgement expected of a senior practitioner.
What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, and coordinate the instructor team, including scheduling and performance oversight
- Deliver advanced instructor-led sessions across classroom and synthetic environments
- Ensure instructors are briefed, prepared, and aligned with the designed training methodology
- Provide operational insight during demonstrations, customer engagements, trade shows, and evaluation activities
- Work with the Head of Training Design to refine lesson plans and ensure delivery remains credible and relevant
- Gather learner feedback, monitor delivery quality, and drive improvements across the training pipeline
- Ensure seamless integration between instructor-led sessions, digital learning, and simulation scenarios
- Maintain delivery records and contribute to reporting against defence training standards
- Travel to customer sites, partner facilities, and events as required
What You Bring
- Proven experience as an instructor in defence, aviation, or another high-reliability domain
- Strong communication and presentation skills; confident engaging with customers, SMEs, and operational audiences
- Operational credibility and the ability to contextualise training for real-world environments
- Capability to lead and develop a team of instructors
- Strong written communication and documentation skills
- Eligibility for security clearance up to Secret
- Motivation to work in a fast-moving start-up where autonomy, initiative, and professionalism are essential
Desirable
- Experience with UAV/RCAS, aircrew, or synthetic training environments
- Previous involvement in customer-facing activities within defence or aviation
- Familiarity with NATO training or quality standards
- Experience in early-stage or small-team organisations
Why Join Us
You'll be part of a team shaping a new training capability with real operational significance. This is an opportunity to lead instructors, influence curriculum design, and represent a mission-driven organisation that values credibility, trust, and practical expertise.
